Yauatcha to launch expert dim sum masterclasses led by Michelin-Starred Executive Chef Andrew Yeo

This summer, renowned Cantonese dim sum teahouse Yauatcha is celebrating the unique culinary art of dim sum with a series of interactive dim sum masterclasses. Hosted by Global Executive Chef, Andrew Yeo, and his team of talented chefs, guests will learn the art, craft and secrets of contemporary dim sum.

Taking place in the heart of Broadgate at Yauatcha City on a monthly basis, from June to September, intimate groups of 16 guests will be taught the authentic cooking methods behind Yauatcha’s acclaimed dim sum. Perfect for family and friends, or a memorable day date, guests will hone the skills to make six of Yauatcha’s best-loved dim sum dishes. To complete the culinary experience, guests will then enjoy their creations over lunch, harmoniously paired with Whispering Angel wine.

The day will begin with welcome refreshments whilst Yauatcha’s expert chefs explain the craftsmanship in creating the dim sum. These coveted techniques, passed down through generations, date back to the latter half of the 19th century where intricate dumplings were first made for silk road travellers in tea houses, in the port city of Guangzhou.

The chefs will then guide guests in an interactive class where they will – for the first time ever – share their techniques and folding methods used in the restaurant daily. Each guest will prepare a mixture of steamed, baked and fried dim sum including Mushroom spring rolls; Scallop shui mai; Prawn toast; Lobster dumpling; Edamame truffle dumpling; and Golden squash dumpling. Finally, guests will be served the dim sum created by the group over lunch.

Classes will be led by Andrew Yeo, Global Executive Chef of Yauatcha, as well as Michelin-starred Hakkasan, alongside his talented team. Yeo will impart the knowledge he has garnered during his over twenty-year long career which has spanned Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore – where he was born and raised.

Priced at £125pp, the masterclass will include six types of dim sum, the crispy duck salad, dessert and half a bottle of Whispering Angel per guest. In addition, as mementos to remember the day by, guests will be gifted a Whispering Angel corkscrew, Yauatcha apron, Yauatcha booklet and pen, as well as a box of four macarons from Yauatcha’s award-winning patisserie.

The Dim Sum masterclasses will take place at Yauatcha City and are priced at £125pp, with 16 spaces available. Dates: 18th June, 16th July, 20th August, 17th September. Bookings can be made online via Seven Rooms:https://www.sevenrooms.com/events/yauatchacitylondon/offers-dir
