Ahmet has experience at some of London’s leading hotels and restaurants and will offer an unrivalled afternoon tea experience to guests.
The Runnymede On Thames, Surrey, is delighted to announce the appointment of new Head Pastry Chef, Ahmet Korkut. Ahmet has gained a vast amount of experience from working at some of the most superior hotels and restaurants in London, including Shangri-La, The Savoy and Sketch, where he developed his passion and dedication for delivering remarkable service.
Ahmet’s passion for food came from his Turkish-Cypriot roots, with his Grandad becoming a prominent figure in sparking his culinary dreams. Together they would create innovative dishes which led to his desire to produce his own pastry recipes. After completing his marketing degree, Ahmet then went to culinary school at Westminster College to embark on his pastry profession.
Along the way, Ahmet has been inspired by countless individuals within the industry; Martin Chiffers, Nick Patterson, Dale DeSimone are all outstanding figures with phenomenal accolades. These notable names gave him the core skills to progress, becoming the pastry chef he is today. Slawomir Sowa, who now works at The Hide as head baker, was Ahmet’s mentor, from whom he learned the fundamental skills to enrich his career.
Ahmet has described his new position at The Runnymede on Thames as a “pinnacle of his career”, commenting that he will thrive in the “more relaxed environment, with a change of scenery”. His expertise, creative flair and imagination will offer guests a truly remarkable afternoon tea experience by the river.
