Hottest Restaurant Openings in November 2019

Tom Booton to unveil new era for The Grill at The Dorchester

Mid-November will see Tom Booton unveil his own interpretation of a modern-day British grill at The Grill at The Dorchester. Marking a significant move for the landmark luxury hotel, Tom, aged 26, will be The Grill at The Dorchester’s youngest ever head chef, and will be heading up an elite team of youthful and talented kitchen staff with Adam Nevin joining Tom as sous chef. Tom’s recent appointment marks a new era for the restaurant as he strives to create a more relaxed dining experience for guests through the development of new menus and a series of interior updates. The most prominent interior change will be a statement ‘Pudding Bar’, which aims to add an element of theatre to the dining experience, as guests are invited to dine at a ‘chef’s table’ for their final course, where they can watch the pastry chefs in action.

The Grill at The Dorchester will officially open from 12th November.

Richard Corrigan to launch Daffodil Mulligan in London’s Old Street

Chef Richard Corrigan is set to open his third London restaurant, Daffodil Mulligan, this November in Old Street alongside John Nugent (Green & Fortune) and Tony Gibney (Gibney’s of Malahide). The Irish trio, who have over a century of hospitality experience collectively, bought the site previously known as Nuala in July 2019. The 60-cover restaurant will include a 10-seater oyster bar and a basement saloon bar which will play host to a series of live music nights. The hearty, ever-changing menu will feature produce from Corrigan’s country estate in Ireland, Virginia Park Lodge, and will focus on seafood. The bar will serve a selection of craft beers and spirits and will focus on smaller Irish distilleries and producers – many of which will be available exclusively.  Named after the daughter of Biddy Mulligan – a legendary Dublin street seller – Daffodil Mulligan hopes to showcase her Irish spirit and hospitality in London’s East End.

On Monday 11th November Volta do Mar will open its doors, bringing an exciting flavour of Portugal to London’s Covent Garden. A frequently changing menu of both sharing and large plates will include dishes such as Smoked ham hock feijoada, a traditional bean-based stew; Iberico Pork Vindalho; Macanese Arroz Marisco, a seafood rice served tableside from a Cataplana; Pão Com Chouriço, a dish of Goan smoked chorizo served in a naan. Also open for breakfast throughout the week, Volta do Mar will operate as a traditional Portuguese pastelaria, with an inhouse baker making Pastel de Nata; Bola de Berlim, a type of Portuguese doughnut; and pão, freshly baked bread perfect to be enjoyed alongside a ‘uma bica’ – a classic Portuguese coffee.
