To celebrate Afternoon Tea Week 2025, Engel and JANG at The Royal Exchange have launched a modern interpretation of the classic British ritual, blending tradition with contemporary flair — and a little theatre on the side.

Served weekdays from 2:30–5pm, the new Afternoon Tea experience has been crafted in collaboration with acclaimed pastry chef Lorena Tommasi, whose résumé includes prestigious kitchens such as Caprice Group and Claude Bosi. The result is a refined yet playful menu of delicate savouries, exquisite patisserie, and a nostalgic Three O’Clock Coffee Cake, all elegantly delivered to the table atop silver stork stands.

A Savoury and Sweet Culinary Journey

Tommasi’s menu presents a careful balance of textures and flavours, beginning with a trio of open sandwiches:

• Smoked salmon with trout mousse and nasturtium flowers

• Roast beef with celeriac remoulade and edible allium blossoms

• A vibrant plant-based option with pickled beetroot, hummus, and calendula petals

For dessert, diners can enjoy:

• Delicate piped apple choux

• A rich, glossy sachertorte

• Seasonal tartlets bursting with citrus and summer fruits

The experience is elevated with a curated selection of JING Korean teas, or for those looking to indulge further, a choice of Hattingley Valley Classic Reserve or R de Ruinart Brut NV Champagne.

Mini Afternoon Tea for Younger Guests

New this season is a Mini Afternoon Tea designed especially for children — a playful, scaled-down version of the full menu, ideal for families enjoying Afternoon Tea Week in style. With child-friendly presentation and a balanced sweet-savory selection, it’s a thoughtful touch that makes this venue a standout choice for multi-generational dining.
