Shield Safety, the trusted name in food safety, health and safety and fire safety, has secured two coveted national awards, Best Company (>10 Employees) and Best New Product/Service, at the prestigious Society of Food Hygiene and Technology Awards 2024.

The business was honoured with the Best Company (>10 Employees) Award in recognition of its unfailing commitment to a trail-blazing, highly innovative approach to safety; Shield Safety prides itself on delivering safety solutions that do more than protect businesses – they drive growth, improve wellbeing and save lives. Since its establishment, the company has grown significantly to a workforce of over 140 full-time employees, with the largest team of Environmental Health Practitioners in the UK.

Shield Safety was also celebrated with the Best New Product/Service Award, as the first UK certification body of Safe to Trade, the voluntary, third-party assurance scheme for the hospitality industry that puts people’s health first. Safe to Trade is a standard that leads and directs the sector, devised in collaboration with industry experts and regulators, and implemented by highly-trained, competent and impartial Environmental Health Practitioners at Shield Safety. Industry-leading brands including Hoburne, YO! Sushi and Joe and the Juice are already ensuring they meet the comprehensive requirements to become certified, supporting them in achieving a Food Hygiene Rating of 5, while building consumer confidence and commercial success.

In another key highlight of the anticipated event, Shield Safety marked further success as one of its highly competent Environmental Health Practitioners, Jovita Alaetuo, was shortlisted for the Best Auditor Award. An integral member of the team, since graduating in 2016 Jovita has excelled in her career, delivering audits against the Safe to Trade standard for the company’s most complex clients who conduct high-risk processes across various catering, hospitality, and retail environments.
