With the Christmas season fast approaching, three of Newcastle’s most celebrated restaurants have announced festive menus that go far beyond turkey and trimmings – think spice-infused sharing dishes, fire-kissed flavours and Persian-leaning feasts.

Here’s what to expect, and where…

Khai Khai
Over at Khai Khai, the festive line-up leans into fire and finesse. The Festive Menu (£70pp) includes dishes such as Malwani Lamb Chops, Tandoori Broccoli, Mangalorean Prawn Stew and Shiitake Butter Chicken. The Vegetarian Festive Menu highlights showstoppers like Malwani Paneer and Shiitake Paneer Butter Masala. Each menu comes with Christmas crackers and one bottle of house wine per group of six – perfect for adding a celebratory touch to the table. (Availability November 28 – December 24 2025).

For New Year’s Eve, Khai Khai turns up the heat with a sharing feast (£75pp): picture Lucknowi Lamb Chops, Scallop Moilee, Tandoori Chèvre Chicken and the striking Gilded Gajar dessert – plus a welcome glass of bubbly and cocktail options to toast the night. (Availability December 31 2025).

Dabbawal

Dabbawal brings its signature energy to festive dining with a Festive Sharing Menu (£42pp) built for celebration. Expect plates such as Afghani Murgh Tikka, Pistachio-Crusted Lamb Boti, Old Delhi-style Butter Chicken and Turkey Pepper Fry, served alongside a glass of prosecco on arrival and festive crackers. Vegetarian guests are well catered for too, with a vibrant selection of meat-free dishes full of flavour and spice.

It’s the ideal choice for groups who want flavour and fun in equal measure – a menu that captures the spirit of Indian street food, reimagined for the season.

DOOD

Over on the Quayside, DOOD brings a touch of Middle Eastern warmth to the festive season.

Its Christmas Menu (£70pp) offers a sharing-style experience inspired by Persian hospitality, featuring dishes such as Chicken Dolma, Saffron Monkfish and Kabab Koobideh, followed by Baklava with Pistachio Ice Cream.

For New Year’s Eve (£75pp), guests can expect a lavish Levantine celebration with Harissa Chicken Wings, Ahvazi Lamb Stew and Saffron Monkfish, served with a welcome glass of bubbly and a signature cocktail. Set against glistening views of the Tyne, DOOD offers one of the city’s most magical spots to see in the New Year – the perfect setting to toast to midnight in style.
