Festival of Light: Farlam Hall Marks Diwali with a Michelin-Starred Weekend in Cumbria
This November, Farlam Hall, the Michelin-starred Relais & Châteaux hotel in the heart of Cumbria, celebrates Diwali, the Festival of Lights, with a luxurious two-night exclusive package running from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th November 2026, curated by Chef Patron Hrishikesh Desai, whose cooking weaves his Indian heritage through classical French technique.
Guests arrive on the Friday to a warm welcome before celebrations move to the hotel’s beautifully decorated tipi for a Diya lighting ceremony, Champagne and a spectacular fireworks display, followed by a street food feast cooked live from the hotel’s own ‘street kitchen’, the menu features street food classics such as Wada Pav and Aloo Tikki and this feast will be accompanied by entertainment from singer-guitarist John Penn. Saturday moves at a gentler pace, with time to explore the kitchen garden and grounds, visit the nearby UNESCO World Heritage site Hadrian’s Wall, or unwind with a GAIA Skincare treatment at the Sycamore Retreat, before a signature-cocktail afternoon tea, with the menu offering a selection of both sweet and savoury treats, from Milai Doughnuts to a Soft Water Prawn Moilee, before culminating in a seven-course Black Tie gala dinner in The Cedar Tree restaurant.

Family groups are well catered for, with Brookside House and The Coach House offering private, spacious accommodation for four or six guests, ideal for those celebrating together. Guests keen to extend the festivities can also take advantage of a 10% discount on Bed & Breakfast rates, provided this is booked in advance, making it easy to turn the weekend into a longer Cumbrian escape.
HOW: Package prices start from under £475 per person per night for the two-night stay. For more information, visit farlamhall.com or call 016977 46234.
