Tigermilk Brings Hacienda Grandeur to the Heart of East London
Their modern South American inspired interior brings life to their largest site to date
Following its successful opening in May, Tigermilk Spitalfields’s interior has emerged as one of the defining elements of the new flagship restaurant by Alexis and Nina Melikov, the group’s largest site to date.
Designed by Studio Leche, Tigermilk’s in-house design studio, the space brings together hacienda-inspired architecture, layered materials and a warm, transportive atmosphere that has become central to the guest experience. Conceived as an escape in the heart of Spitalfields, the ambition was to build an environment that guests would immediately want to stay in, rather than one designed purely to be photographed.
Central patios, generous proportions, fountains, handcrafted materials and lush greenery give the space its structure and soul, evoking the kind of environment that takes decades to settle into its surroundings. Antique furniture sits alongside bespoke pieces, and reclaimed terracotta, natural stone, marble and aged timber are used throughout, materials that carry history and wear it well.

“People rarely talk about specific design features. They talk about the atmosphere,” adds Alexis. “If people leave believing the space possesses a history, then we have succeeded in creating something that feels authentic rather than constructed.”
A considered selection of suppliers and craftspeople underpins the interior. Sogni and Pooky provide the lighting, Pierre Frey and Morris the fabrics and upholstery, and Mandarin Stone the marble and stone surfaces. Flexhouse – responsible for custom joinery, millwork and bespoke fabrication – also contributed to the furniture alongside vintage pieces and Leta, while Resources delivered the decorative wall finishes. Together they bring a layered quality to the space, as though each element has its own provenance and story.
With its new 280-cover restaurant, hacienda-inspired interiors and striking luminescent bar stocked with more than 2700 bottles, Tigermilk Spitalfields invites guests into what feels like the brand’s thirteenth home. Through a considered interior scheme full of texture and attention to detail, the restaurant offers a transportive South American-inspired experience designed to engage every sense.
