Litherland inn becomes an Indian Gastro Pub

The Jubilee pub in Litherland, North Liverpool, has been refurbished into an Indian Gastro Pub.

Instead of serving traditional classics like fish and chips or a pie with a pint, it will now be serving authentic South Asian cuisine.

It follows a national trend for desi pubs,  which combine a typical pub with a popular Indian restaurant.

Sarisa at The Jubilee will launch this week after a refurbishment to the restaurant area.

The pub in Hatton Hill Road will continue to run as a normal public house offering the usual spirits and beers from brewery Heineken, including the main Heineken brand along with Heineken-owned beers like Birra MorettiFoster’sKronenbourg 1664AmstelMaltsmiths, and Desperados.

And it will carry on having all the usual entertainment that regulars are used to including karaoke and live music nights – along with a new evening of belly dancing once a month!

But the food it offers will be created by chefs from Sarisa Indian Kitchen which has two popular restaurants in North Wales that regularly get five-star reviews on Trip Advisor.

As well as snacks and ‘spicy chips’, the menu will include fresh nan breads and a variety of rice dishes, as well as tasty sides like mushroom, cauliflower and sag bhajis, tarka dal and Bombay aloo.

There will be traditional curries from mild korma to medium balti and rogan dishes, and hotter madras and jalfrezis.

A variety of chicken, meat and prawn tandoori dishes will also be served, as well as a range of Sarisa Specials including spicy honey roasted chicken and lamb, with the meats marinated with honey, coconut milk and Indian spices, and chicken Rawalpindi, where chicken is cooked with tomatoes, peppers, garlic and coriander and served in a hot sauce.

Owner Razzaqui, who has more than 16 years’ experience in hospitality, is looking forward to bringing his restaurant expertise to Liverpool and introducing Jubilee customers – old and new – to an exciting new venue.

“It’s becoming more and more popular to have a traditional pub combined with an Indian restaurant and I can’t wait to bring the Sarisa Indian Kitchen to The Jubilee,” he says.

“We have included lots of favourite Indian curries on the menu along with dishes which are unique to us at Sarisa, and I can promise that everything will be prepared with love and care, using the finest ingredients and authentic spices.”

Razzaqui adds: “The Jubilee customers are in for a treat – and let’s face it, who doesn’t love a curry with their favourite pint?!”
