Bombay Delight Presents an Exclusive Maharashtrian Food Festival in London

Following the resounding success of the first edition of the Bombay Delight Food Festival last year, Chef Ajay Chaurasia returns with an exciting second edition, showcasing the vibrant and diverse cuisine of Maharashtra. This exclusive three-month limited-edition menu is a tribute to the bold flavours and rich culinary heritage of the region.

Bombay Delight, renowned for its celebration of India’s rich culinary heritage, is excited to introduce its Maharashtrian Food Festival—a limited-time experience showcasing the bold and diverse flavours of Maharashtra. Known as the land of the great Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Maharashtra is steeped in history, culture, and resilience. It is home to Mumbai, India’s financial capital, the serene Konkan coastline, and Kolhapur’s spice-laden cuisine. Pune, often called the “Oxford of the East”, is not only a centre of education but also one of India’s fastest-growing IT hubs. This vibrant state’s cuisine reflects its dynamic spirit, and Bombay Delight invites food lovers from across London to embark on a journey through its most iconic dishes.

A Taste of Maharashtra’s Rich Heritage

Flavourful Beginnings

Start your experience with the much-loved Kothimbir Vadi, a crispy, golden-fried snack made with fresh coriander and gram flour. Seafood enthusiasts can indulge in Prawn Koliwada, a signature dish of Mumbai’s Koli community, where prawns are coated in a spiced batter and fried to perfection. The Satari Mutton Chops, slow-cooked with a distinctive spice blend from Satara, promise deep, smoky flavours, while the Kala Masalyachi Tangdi, marinated in a rich black masala, brings a bold and fiery taste.

A Regal Maharashtrian Feast

The main course presents a true celebration of Maharashtra’s culinary diversity. The Koli Fish Curry, prepared in the famous Juhu Koliwada style, offers a perfect balance of heat and tanginess. The coastal Malwani Chicken Curry, infused with the warmth of coconut and freshly ground Malvani spices, is a must-try. Meat lovers can savour Saoji Mutton, a fiery and aromatic dish from Nagpur, made using an intensely spiced, slow-cooked masala.

For vegetarians, the festival features the comforting Bharleli Vangi, where baby aubergines are stuffed with a rich coconut-peanut masala, and Zunka, a traditional gram flour-based dish bursting with rustic flavours, best enjoyed with Bhakri, a wholesome rice flour flatbread.

Sweet Indulgences & Refreshing Sips

End your meal on a sweet note with Maharashtra’s most cherished desserts. The creamy, saffron-infused Amrakhand, made with seasonal mangoes and yogurt, offers a refreshing finish, while the beloved Puran Poli, a sweet flatbread filled with lentils and jaggery, delivers a taste of tradition. To complement the feast, sip on Solkadhi, a cooling digestive drink made with coconut milk and kokum, or Aam Panna, a tangy raw mango cooler perfect for summer.

Bombay Delight’s Maharashtrian Food Festival is a celebration of tradition, authenticity, and bold flavours, bringing one of India’s most diverse cuisines to the heart of London. Whether you’re a seafood lover, a spice enthusiast, or a fan of comforting vegetarian dishes, this festival promises a dining experience like no other.
