27 Old Compton Street from Nima Safaei

Soho, get ready – on 24th March, the city’s newest, hottest pasta spot will open its doors as 27 Old Compton Street is set to bring bold flavours, fast service and authentic Italian magic to the heart of London.
From Nima Safaei, the renowned restaurateur behind 40 Dean Street and 64 Old Compton Street, 27 Old Compton Street draws inspiration from Italy’s passion for quick, high-quality pasta.
During his many visits to Italy, Safaei often saw locals gathered around high tables, a steaming bowl of fresh pasta in one hand and a glass of wine in the other. It was this lively, communal experience that Safaei looked to recreate with the new opening.
Rooted in the tradition of tavola calda – meaning “hot table” – 27 Old Compton Street is focused on flavour-packed, freshly made pasta that’s served fast, but with no compromise on quality.
The ultimate destination for food lovers who crave both authenticity and convenience, the menu features a delectable selection of beloved Italian classics, including:
- Rigatoni amatriciana with pancetta and chillies
- Pumpkin, ricotta and sage ravioli
- Gnocchi with cavolo nero and pesto
- Paccheri puttanesca with tiger prawns
- Pea risotto with broad beans and asparagus
No Italian meal is truly complete without the perfect pairing; 27 Old Compton Street will offer an expertly curated Italian wine list, available by the glass – perfect for sipping whilst savouring every dish. For those seeking something bolder, signature cocktails such as Amalfi, a crisp, citrussy martini, and Pomodoro Piccante, an Italian take on a spicy Bloody Mary, have been specially created to elevate the menu’s rich flavors.
With just 30 covers and a walk-ins-only policy, 27 Old Compton Street promises an intimate yet buzzy dining experience. Upstairs, high tables evoke the spirited energy of Italy’s lively piazzas, while downstairs, plush booths provide diners with a cosy cocoon away from the busy streets of Soho.
Nima Safaei, founder “The concept of ‘tavola calda’ instantly resonated with me – I wanted to create that spot for fast, high-quality food that doesn’t compromise on taste or flavour. 27 Old Compton Street will bring a slice of ‘la dolce vita’ to London and be a place where people can drop in effortlessly, knowing they’ll get incredible pasta, fab drinks and a buzzing atmosphere.”
“I’m delighted to be adding another string to my bow as a restaurateur and to embark on this challenge. It’s a totally different space to my other two sites – but one that still feels undeniably Soho. I can’t wait to welcome everyone to 27 Old Compton Street!”
