Idyllic Leicestershire pub wins prestigious award
Swithland’s The Griffin Inn has been crowned Pub of the Year at the Leicestershire Promotions Tourism and Hospitality Awards 2023.
Leicestershire Promotions Tourism and Hospitality Awards celebrate the best places to stay, drink and dine across the county. The awards ceremony was held on 30th November 2023 at The Athena in Leicester.
Set in the charming milieu of Charnwood, the premium gastro pub forms part of The Cat and Wickets Pub Company, owned by ex-England cricketers Harry Gurney and Stuart Broad.
Harry Gurney, Managing Director at The Cat & Wickets Pub Company, commented: “We’re absolutely delighted to win this award. The team has just celebrated one year since we launched the pub in conjunction with Everards, and this is the third award we have won in that time.
“We’re hugely grateful for the accolade, but we will never become complacent. The most important thing to us is to continue delivering the best customer service every single time.”
Stuart Broad agreed: “I am hugely proud of the team at The Griffin Inn. They all work incredibly hard and are so deserving of this award.”
The pub was also named Leicestershire Pub of the Year at the National Pub and Bar Awards in April 2023, and Best Gastro Pub at the Midlands Food, Drink and Hospitality Awards 2023.
