With the bubble tea phenomenon continuing to gain momentum in the UK, new opening Paeonia is set to be a sure-fire hit when the shop launches in early August. Opening in Windsor this summer, Paeonia is bringing premium bubble tea to the town with a range of customisable tapioca sensations.
Paeonia is the latest venture from acclaimed foodie Anh Pham, who has spent the past decade working in the UK’s hospitality industry. A tea lover with a strong passion for food and beverages, Anh has drank and tasted many bubble tea during her travels worldwide, and set about creating her own recipes – unlike anything currently on offer in the UK. Bringing a high-end experience to Windsor, guests can expect premium bubble tea inspired by the flavours of Taiwan.
For the uninitiated, bubble tea is a tea-based drink served cold, hot, or iced (most popularly the latter) with chewy, tapioca bubbles providing a glorious and moreish mix of textures. Originating in Taiwan in the 1980s, the last few years have seen an increasing amount of bubble tea places open in the UK, with 2020 in particular seeing a boom in popularity of the Asian delight. With various fruity and milky flavours to choose from, bubble tea has become a staple for everyone as well as teens, discerning drinkers and the adventurous, becoming one of the world’s most in-demand non-alcoholic drinks.
Bringing something new to Windsor’s bubble tea scene, all of Paeonia’s bubble tea are made using a Teapresso Machine imported from Taiwan – the first UK shops to use this piece of equipment. The process features a multi-section infusion stage, allowing the tea to brew to optimum temperature, before the tapioca balls – or popping balls and other toppings – are added. Unlike other bubble tea shops, every bubble tea at Paeonia is made to order, ensuring better flavour, freshness and taste.
The menu features a vast selection of bubble tea; ranging from Classic Milk Tea to Speciality Milk Tea, along with Fruit Tea, Ice Tea and Fluffy Cheese Tea. Customers can also customise their drink, opting for the amount of sweetness, ice, extra toppings. Alongside the menu, expect limited-edition flavours alongside rotating seasonal specials and the option to make tea with a variety of plant-based milks including oat, coconut and soya.
This delectable drink – also known as pearl milk tea, bubble milk tea, or boba – is served with an oversized straw, meanings customers can slurp their tea and chew the tapioca. Hot organic tea will also be served, with Breakfast, Earl Grey and Camomile all appearing on the menu.
Served in a stylish surrounding, and taking cues from their name, the visually-stunning shop features pretty floral decorations, and chic lighting, culminated in a contemporary, up-market space. Nestled in the heart of Windsor, next door to Windsor Royal Station and a two minute walk from Windsor Castle, Paeonia is ideally situated for locals and tourists alike.
An Instagrammable haven for tourists and locals alike, Paeonia’s bubbling teavolution is no doubt going to be a popular tour de force when it opens in August.
