The City unveils newly refurbished City Lounge in the lobby

Crowne Plaza London – The City has officially unveiled the newly refurbished City Lounge, with an elegant new look following a full refurbishment.

High quality craftsmanship and builders who share a passion for attention to detail has ensured that the new look City Lounge offers a fresh, contemporary style while retaining the warm and inviting atmosphere which guests have enjoyed since the lounge opened in 2003.

The £800,000 refurbishment project has increased the capacity of the lounge from 45 to 62 covers offering additional space for individual and group style dining in London for guests and visitors alike. The redesigned space displays an artsy sophistication feel from the formerly traditional interiors.

“We’re delighted with the results of our refurbishment, which has completely transformed the appearance of our lobby. The result has completely exceeded all our expectations,” said Paul Watson, general manager for Crowne Plaza London – The City. “The new space is inviting and has a contemporary and relaxed lifestyle feel,” he continued.

The new décor features an illuminated bar as the lounge’s focal point. Striking grey wool banquettes paired with burnt orange leather accent chairs and gold lined bookshelves retains a modern city feel. The high back sofa pods provide an ideal solution for those that require privacy for meetings or simply a comfortable quiet haven in the busy open plan lounge. Standout design elements include bespoke geometric chandeliers and opal glass globe table lamps with a stain brass finish.

The kitchen offers contemporary international affair with colourful dishes following a complete redesign of the menu in line with the new refurbishment. The perfect spot for a business breakfast thanks to the egg-enhanced morning menu including salt-beef hash served on toasted sourdough bread and topped with poached eggs to classic favourites of smashed avocado or eggs benedict. Whilst the All Day Dining menu sees high-grade seafood options such as Scalloway salmon smoked from the Shetland Isles and MSC-approved sustainable cod cooked in a Goan coconut curry sauce to sit alongside salads, sandwiches, steaks and small sharing bites. Plus, at weekends, a brunch menu takes centre stage.
