This September, one of London’s most storied dining rooms begins a new era, where British culinary heritage meets bold contemporary flair, led by acclaimed culinary director Martyn Nail.

One of London’s most respected chefs, Nail now takes the helm alongside rising star head chef Jacob Keen-Downs (formerly of Gold, Notting Hill). Together, they unveil a confident, contemporary interpretation of the classic grill room, infused with the elegance and personality that have long defined The Dorchester.

For nearly a century, The Grill has captured London’s dynamic dining spirit. Today, it returns as a place full of theatre and atmosphere. Striking chandeliers, Bentley leather banquettes, and the energy of the open kitchen set the scene. Trolleys glide between tables, attentive staff orchestrate the floor, chefs finish dishes at the counter, and every detail is designed to leave a lasting impression.

The menu reflects the way people choose to dine now: shared small plates, classic dishes presented in new ways, and a commitment to British produce and technical craft. Signatures include tuna tartare prepared tableside, The Grill seafood platter, and a perfectly executed beef Wellington. Breakfast brings refined takes on beloved classics, with highlights such as omelette Arnold Bennett and Portland crab Benedict. Sundays feature a traditional roast and a dessert trolley of British favourites: banana split, baked Alaska, Sherry trifle, and a signature Chocolate mousse.

A nod to The Grill’s legendary Sherry Room comes in the form of a curated sherry list and a daily “Sherry Moment” from 6 to 7pm — a ceremonious long pour served straight from the barrel, enjoyed in the proper fashion with plump olives at the bar. Signature cocktails include the Grill Adonis, London Calling (gin and fino sherry), and a distinctive frozen Martini.

“This dining room has been making history for 95 years,” says Martyn Nail. “Our aim is to celebrate the best of the grill tradition with exceptional cooking and a great environment. Whether our diners choose to snack at the counter, graze with friends, or enjoy the full experience alone, we want the room to feel vibrant, relaxed, and warm — the place to go, and the place to return to.”

Carrying the room’s lively presence into the evening, The Grill at The Dorchester is partnering with the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club to present an exclusive Supper Club Series this autumn. Bringing together two of London’s most iconic institutions, the series pairs world-class live jazz with a specially curated three-course menu.

The line-up features acclaimed artists Natalie Duncan (24 September), Natalie Williams (29 October), Jo Harrop (26 November) and Georgia Cecile (9 December), each delivering soulful, unforgettable performances.

Priced at £145 per person, excluding drinks and service, these will be unforgettable evenings that channel the artistry and spirit of London at its most alive.
