One of Africa’s fastest-rising spirit brands, Kakira Cane Spirits, has officially landed in the UK, bringing with it a premium range of award-winning rums, vodkas, and gins that have already captured global attention — and over 70 international awards in just four years.

A Distillery with Deep Roots at the Source of the Nile

Founded in Kakira, Uganda, a town nestled at the source of the River Nile, the brand draws its name — and its soul — from the surrounding sugar cane estates of Kakira Sugar, Uganda’s largest private-sector employer. The distillery produces its entire range using estate-grown sugarcane, natural botanicals, and sustainably generated energy, embodying what the brand calls “True African Spirit.”

Every bottle tells the story of Kakira — a nearly century-old business founded by Muljibhai Madhvani MBE in 1930, rebuilt after political turmoil, and now reborn as a globally recognised, carbon-neutral operation that powers not only its own estate but contributes electricity to the Ugandan national grid.
