Pizza Pilgrims named 7th best pizzeria in the world
Pizza Pilgrims is thrilled to announce that they have been named the 7th best pizzeria in the world by 50 Top Pizza. This prestigious recognition places the London-based pizzeria group among the global elite, celebrating its authentic Neapolitan pizza and dedication to bringing a slice of Italy to the UK.
Founded by brothers Thom and James Elliot in 2011, Pizza Pilgrims has grown from humble beginnings—serving pizzas out of a Piaggio Ape van at Berwick Street Market—to a brand with 25 locations across the UK, all while staying true to its mission of “making people happier, one pizza at a time.” The accolade acknowledges their innovative yet authentic approach to pizza-making, their ethos of sustainability, and their strong connection to the community.
Commenting on the achievement, co-founder James Elliot said:
“Being recognised as the 7th best pizzeria in the world is beyond anything we could have imagined when we started Pizza Pilgrims. It’s a huge testament to our incredible team and the passion they bring to every pizza we make. The London pizza scene has never been more exciting, and we’re absolutely thrilled to be named alongside such amazing names in the global pizza community.”
Pizza Pilgrims also scooped the exciting accolade – Pizza of the Year 2024 – awarded to their Salsiccia e Friarielli pizza, which features Italian roasted sausage with wild broccoletti on an olive oil base with smoked mozzarella & fresh chilli.
Pizza Pilgrims continues to delight customers with their signature 72-hour double-fermented dough and inventive toppings such as the iconic Double Pepperoni & Spicy Honey and the indulgent 8 Cheese pizza.
The announcement comes on the heels of Pizza Pilgrims’ 10th anniversary, achieving BCorp certification and the opening of their Cardiff and Chelsea locations, showcasing their ambition to continue evolving while honouring their roots in Naples’ pizza culture.
