Melissa Hemsley in Conversation with Mika Simmons at Radici

Radici Hosts Dinner in Support of Mental Health Mates

On Thursday 16 May, Francesco Mazzei’s Islington trattoria, Radici, will host a dinner with Melissa Hemsley and Mika Simmons. Guests will hear how Melissa uses food as one of the ways to keep herself mentally well, and ticket sales from the evening will support the work of Mental Health Mates.

Melissa Hemsley is an ambassador of Mental Health Mates, as well as being a hugely successful cook, author and champion of sustainable, nourishing food. She truly believes that sharing stories and talking about our mental wellbeing is just as important as the food we eat. For this one-off event at Radici she will be joined in conversation with Mika Simmons, the renowned actress, filmmaker and founder of the gynaecological cancer charity, Lady Garden Foundation.

Started by Bryony Gordon in 2016, Mental Health Mates was founded on the belief that one of the key ways that mental illness thrives is through isolation and that nobody has ever recovered from a mental health issue without first talking about it. This belief has developed into a network of peer support groups, run by people with mental health issues, who meet regularly to walk and talk without fear or judgement.

As well as gaining an insight into Melissa’s views on food and mental health, guests will also enjoy a delicious three-course dinner of feel-good Italian dishes created by the team at Radici. To start, there will be Courgette flowers stuffed with ricotta and Amalfi lemon, followed by a vibrant spring main course of Tortelli with burrata, broad beans and peas. To finish, Radici will serve Mangia e Bevi, a traditional Italian dessert with gelato and fresh fruit.

Guests at the event at Radici on 16 May will enjoy a welcome glass of Ferrari Trento, followed by the three-course menu whilst listening to Melissa and Mika’s conversation and having the opportunity to join the discussion and ask questions themselves. Tickets are priced at £35pp and can be purchased here. £5 from each ticket sold will be donated to Mental Health Mates.
Throughout May and June, all of D&D London‘s restaurants will be raising money to support Mental Health Mates, through a £1 donation on each lunch bill over the two months and a series of ticketed events across the venues. Radici and D&D are delighted to be raising money and awareness for this brilliant cause.
