AMMA & ATTA Brings Ayurvedic-Inspired Food, Drinks And Wellness To Canary Wharf
AMMA & ATTA has launched its first concept at Market Halls Canary Wharf for a three-month residency. The new brand combines nourishing daytime food and botanical drinks, bringing Ayurvedic wisdom into the modern day.
Ganan Kanagathurai, Owner Roti King & ex CEO Itsu is working with the new venture as its strategic adviser, and comments: “Amma & Atta brings something truly thoughtful to the table. By pairing ancient wisdom with modern nutritional science, they’ve created vibrant, comforting food that leaves you genuinely energised. It’s nourishing, full of flavour, and a wonderful reflection of where modern dining is heading.”
Designed around the realities of modern life, AMMA & ATTA recognises that how we feel and what we need can shift throughout the day. Sometimes your day asks you to energise, sometimes to find your centre, and sometimes simply to slow down. Through food, drinks and simple everyday rituals, AMMA & ATTA creates moments in the day to help you do just that.
The concept brings this to life through three energies: RISE, ALIGN and RETURN. RISE is designed to energise, ALIGN to balance and RETURN to ground. Customers are invited to ask: Which do you need today? Choose your ritual.
From wealth management to nourishment
AMMA & ATTA was founded by Simone Hundle following a 25-year career in wealth management, including senior roles at JPMorgan and Citigroup. Her experience of corporate life led her to explore a different approach to balance, wellbeing and nourishment, bringing her to holistic healing and Ayurveda, which became a foundation for the brand.
“I know what it feels like to work in an environment that can be incredibly fast-paced and stressful, moving from one meeting to the next and grabbing something to eat without really stopping or thinking about what you need.
“For me, food and nutrition are a form of care, giving us an opportunity to pause and reconnect. That idea also has a very personal meaning. Amma means mother and Atta means flour. After my husband lost his parents, making parathas became a way for him to stay connected to his mother and his Punjabi childhood, and something that brought our own family around the table. That idea of food, family and care is reflected in the brand’s signature: Made by Mother.”
Simone combines her commercial experience with qualifications as a Holistic Healing Counsellor and Ayurvedic Lifestyle and Nutrition Consultant.
Ancient wisdom, contemporary food
The food at AMMA & ATTA draws on Indian home cooking, with a particular focus on Punjabi cuisine, while Ayurveda informs the ingredients, combinations and preparation. The menu is organised around three energies: RISE, ALIGN and RETURN, drawing inspiration from the Ayurvedic doshas Kapha, Pitta and Vata. Traditionally used in Ayurveda to describe different qualities of body and mind, the doshas provide a framework for the menu and the experience.
The format has been developed for health-conscious professionals and families seeking nourishing, convenient and high-quality food and drinks throughout the day.
The Canary Wharf menu brings this to life with morning dishes including Kitchari, Turmeric & Beetroot Granola and Apple & Cinnamon Porridge; all-day warm spelt paratha rolls filled with Chicken, Avocado & Gunpowder or Paneer; and warm chaat-inspired bowls built around dal, chickpeas and kitchari, layered with vegetables and protein and finished with Hari’s freshly made coriander chutney, sweet tamarind, pomegranate, fresh coriander and sev. The menu is complemented by botanical shots, Ayurvedic-inspired teas, Amma’s Chai and a Turmeric & Ashwagandha Latte.
Botanical drinks
The drinks range extends the same Ayurvedic-inspired approach beyond the food.
Three Ayurvedic-inspired botanical teas offer a bright blend for RISE, a refreshing blend for ALIGN and a warming blend for RETURN, each bringing together seven carefully curated herbs and botanicals.
Amma & Atta’s botanical shots use the same ingredients traditionally used in Ayurveda as its teas, served cold in a concentrated form.
Building beyond Canary Wharf
The Canary Wharf residency marks the first stage in a wider proposition spanning food, drinks and retail.
The three botanical teas will extend beyond the Canary Wharf counter into an everyday retail format, with AMMA & ATTA’s Ayurvedic-inspired Gummies planned to follow in December 2026.
The longer-term ambition is to develop a connected food, drinks and wellness brand, creating opportunities for future locations, retail products and partnerships.
For operators, landlords and retail partners, the Canary Wharf launch provides the first opportunity to experience the concept first-hand and a platform for AMMA & ATTA’s next stage of development.
